Dr. Daniel Fish has been named the Danbury & New Milford Hospital Medical Staff Honoree for August, recognizing his longstanding commitment to patient care, community service and clinical excellence.
Dr. Fish is a highly valued member of the Danbury & New Milford Hospital Medical Staff whose contributions have made a lasting impact across the network. In addition to his many leadership roles, he heads orthopaedic services at the hospital’s free clinic, helping ensure that underserved patients in the community have access to high-quality care.
His dedication extends beyond the hospital. Dr. Fish serves as team physician for Brookfield and New Fairfield High Schools and has supported youth athletics through many years of community involvement. His decades of service reflect an unwavering commitment to improving the health and well-being of the patients and communities he serves.
A Distinguished Career in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine
A board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and orthopaedic sports medicine specialist, Dr. Fish completed a prestigious sports medicine fellowship at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital. This followed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Michigan, where he cared for Division I athletes.
His distinguished career includes serving as an assistant team physician for the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins, evaluating athletes at the NFL Scouting Combine and conducting preseason medical evaluations for the New England Patriots for more than 20 years.
Dr. Fish has also served as Chief of Orthopaedics at Danbury Hospital and has been recognized by Connecticut Magazine as both a Top Doctor and Top Surgeon.
Nationally Recognized Expertise
Dr. Fish’s expertise is recognized nationally through his selection as an examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, one of the most prestigious positions in the field.
He also contributes to the advancement of orthopaedic knowledge as an editorial reviewer for The American Journal of Sports Medicine and The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.
